Documentation

ShapeShelf v1.10.4 — for After Effects, Illustrator, and Photoshop.

Installation

  1. Install via the aescripts + aedownloads Manager, or run the bundled .zxp through a ZXP installer.
  2. Restart your Adobe app.
  3. Open the panel from Window → Extensions → ShapeShelf (in Photoshop: Plugins → ShapeShelf).

Requires After Effects, Illustrator, or Photoshop CC 2022 or newer on Windows 10+ or macOS 10.15+.

The basic workflow

  1. Search any term — results stream in from all 26 libraries at once. Filter by a specific set if you need visual consistency.
  2. Pick a size and color (optional) — choose a preset (32–512) and override the fill color, or skip this entirely.
  3. Insert — the icon lands as a native, editable vector in your active document: a shape layer in After Effects and Photoshop, a vector group in Illustrator.

Find Similar

Paste or drop an image and ShapeShelf surfaces the closest matching icons. The image classifier is bundled and runs entirely on your device— nothing is uploaded. The first run initializes the model once, then it’s instant.

Packs & collections

Import & paste SVG

Import an .svg file, or copy an SVG from Figma or your browser and paste it straight into your canvas. Complex artwork is supported — matrix transforms, gradients, clip-paths/masks, and dashed strokes are preserved.

Ungroup (After Effects)

Select an inserted shape layer and use Ungroup to explode a multi-part icon into one shape layer per piece — so you can animate each element independently. Position, stacking order, and your layer transform are preserved; parented and track-matte layers are skipped for safety.

Updates

ShapeShelf checks for new versions and notifies you in Settings when one is available. Updates are free; the Download update button takes you to the latest build on aescripts.
